Karla Treckel Mugler serves as Associate Provost and Dean of University College. She joined The University of Akron in 1990 as Director of Special Projects and became Dean in 1993. Prior to coming to Akron Dr. Mugler served as Director of Career Planning at Cazenovia College in New York, and as Chairman of the Counseling Department and Articulation Officer at Mission College in Santa Clara, California.
An Ohio native, Dr. Mugler earned her B.A. in German at Kent State University in 1970. She earned an M.A. in German in 1971 and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education in 1974 at Northwestern University.
As Dean she helps students in University College as they prepare to transfer to the degree-granting colleges. Dr. Mugler works with the administrators in University College to develop programs which help students to realize their full academic potential, and to progress toward their educational objectives. The University College Dean's Office is responsible for Transfer and Articulation Services. Dr. Mugler also meets with students who have questions about their General Studies/General Education requirements.

Bonnie Williams is Associate Dean of University College. Formerly, she served as Coordinator and subsequently as Director of Graduate Outreach Programs. Additional University experience includes serving as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education, and as an adjunct and visiting instructor in the Community & Technical College. Dr. Williams’ teaching tenure also includes twelve years of public school experience. Dr. Williams earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Secondary Education from The University of Akron. As Associate Dean, she assists in establishing college goals and priorities, developing and implementing college retention strategies and academic progress review, administering programs including the First-Year Learning Communities and the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program, assisting the transition of University College students to the degree-granting colleges, and serving as liaison with various campus units. |

Greg Dieringer serves as the Assistant Dean of University College. Prior to joining University College, he served for more than eleven years in The University of Akron's Office of Admissions, with his most recent position as Senior Assistant Director of Admissions. Dieringer has a B.A. in Secondary Education and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Akron. As Assistant Dean, he coordinates the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program, advises students on the Interdisciplinary Studies degree program, evaluates International Baccalaureate (IB) exam scores for bypass credit, coordinates the publication of the Family Focus Newsletter, and assists with numerous other student success initiatives. Dieringer has also been a Student Success Seminar instructor since 2003, and he is a member of the First-Year Experience Task Force. |

Chris Tankersley joined University College as Director of New Student Orientation in August 2007. Prior to joining the University of Akron, Mr. Tankersley served as Coordinator of First-Year Experience Programs at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and as a Program Advisor at American University in Washington,DC. An Ohio native, Mr. Tankersley earned his B.A. in Business Administration and his M.A. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Akron in 2002 and 2004 respectively. As Director, Mr. Tankersley collaborates with colleagues in University College and throughout campus to coordinate comprehensive orientation programs that enable new students to "Get Connected" to everything that they need for a successful First-Year Experience at The University of Akron. The Office of New Student Orientation is also responsible for coordinating the University College Summer Reading Program, Akron Traditions, and the Welcome Team program. |

Monique Beauvais serves as Assistant to the Associate Provost-System of University College. Prior to coming to University College, she worked as a System Analyst in the Department of Development. As a System Analyst, Mrs. Beauvais provided support to the whole Institutional Advancement Division at The University of Akron. Although many of her duties were technical, she always liked to work with students, in helping them reach their educational goals. Mrs. Beauvais is a graduate of The University of Akron where she received undergraduate degrees in Computer Programming Technology and French with a concentration in Business Administration. She earned a Masters in Public Administration from The University of Akron. Mrs. Beauvais provides administrative support for First-Year Experience programs; she works with administrators, faculty and staff to develop the course-to-course equivalency guide for the Ohio Board of Regents Articulation and Transfer Council. Mrs. Beauvais serves as a liaison between first-year parents and the University through daily correspondence, she develops and maintains queries and reports to support retention initiatives for the University and serves as the key person for the technological needs of University College and other departments on campus. She develops and delivers PowerPoint presentations in support of First-Year initiatives and assists in the recruitment of students during Visitation Days. Mrs. Beauvais provides assistance to students wishing to attend other Universities as a transient guest. She provides Academic Advising and mentoring to incoming freshman, and also teaches the Student Success Seminar course. Mrs. Beauvais helps coordinate the Save our Semester Workshop (SOS) for freshmen experiencing academic difficulties, and the Individual Academic Management Workshop (IAM) for dismissed students returning to the University of Akron. Mrs. Beauvais is fluent in French and Creole, and can communicate in Spanish. Mrs. Beauvais is an avid runner, who loves to travel and has a passion for learning. |
