College Level Examination Program (CLEP) IMPORTANT: CLEP tests may not be taken at the University of Akron for credit the semester you plan to graduate from UA! The University of Akron will accept many CLEP test results for college credit! (An exception is that CLEP tests may not be taken the semester that you graduate.)
We give all published CLEP tests Monday through Friday at 8am, 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. On many Tuesdays we are open until 8pm so there are CLEP tests given at 4pm and 6pm on those days. Simply call us to make an appointment. We have four test stations so that we usually can give the test at the date and time you want. The test is on computer and the results are printed immediately after the test. The cost is currently $70.00 per CLEP test, plus a $15 service. The $70 CLEP fee is paid directly to CLEP and is best done by credit card. The CLEP website lists Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and JCB as acceptable cards. You may pay CLEP by check also. CLEP will not allow us to collect cash for their fee. You may pay the service fee ($15) to us by cash, check, or credit card. Study guides and a test sampler are available by going to the CLEP web site. It is the responsibility of the student to be sure that the CLEP test he or she takes is the correct one for the purposes that the student has in mind. This includes tests taken for use at the University of Akron, and for use at other universities. Contact the school that you will be sending the CLEP results to, to be sure that you know credit is offered via CLEP testing and the passing score you need. We do not offer refunds if you take a CLEP test that is not acceptable at this or another institution.
