UA Professor Emeritus Gent receives lifetime achievement award

Dr. Alan N. Gent, professor emeritus of polymer physics and polymer engineering, was awarded the inaugural Tire Technology International Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes a career of outstanding service to the tire industry. Gent received the honor February 16 at the Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence ceremony in Cologne, Germany.

Gent has received numerous honors, including the Charles Goodyear Medal from the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society; the Bingham Medal from The Society of Rheology; the Colwyn Medal from The Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals; the Ford High Polymer Physics Prize; and the NASA Public Service Medal for services rendered after the Challenger disaster.
