Richard and Joanne Grigg admire and appreciate the job-ready graduates from UA's College of Engineering. Their generous gift will directly impact students, helping to ensure the college's ongoing success.

Richard (Dick) Grigg and his wife, Joanne, consider themselves blessed for the opportunity to support causes that have a direct impact on individuals, which is precisely what their commitment of $125,000 to the College of Engineering at The University of Akron will do.

The Griggs’ contribution will help the college continue producing job-ready engineers in greater and greater numbers to meet the demand for excellence that exists in the market today. "The College of Engineering's job placement rates are impressive," said Richard, a retired executive vice president at FirstEnergy, "and indicative of the outstanding job that Dean Haritos, his staff, and faculty have done in building one of the finest engineering programs in the country."

Richard worked for Wisconsin Electric for nearly 34 years before moving to Akron in 2004. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has served as a member of the UA College of Engineering’s Advancement Council. Joanne is a graduate of Alverno College in Milwaukee, where she received her degree in professional communications and business.
