Dance Institute Pre-Professional Levels
Beginner I

Beginner I (age 7-8 and older students with limited or no previous ballet training) Students are introduced to the fundamental principles, positions, and movements of ballet technique, building strength and flexibility, and moving to different rhythms. No prior dance experience necessary. Students with previous ballet training from other dance programs may be placed in Beginner I in order to establish the skills and understanding that Dance Institute identifies as providing an effective foundation for continued progress. Students attend class 2 days per week.

Class Attire                                              
Girls: Plain black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair secured back and off of face.
Boys: Fitted white shirt, black tights or leggings, thin white socks, white ballet shoes.

Beginner I students will perform in Dance Institute's production of The Snow Maiden on February 4 and 5, 2017 and Dance Institute’s Beginner Work Summary on May 8, 2017 (see Calendar below). Rehearsals are scheduled during and in coordination with regularly scheduled classes. Detailed information will be emailed separately. Printed copies of all emails and attachments are available from the office.

The Snow Maiden is Dance Institute’s full-length story ballet performed every other year during the winter season with professional wardrobe and technical production staff and support. A Snow Maiden Fee is required from each student. The fee and performance dates are listed below. Additional details of student participation in this production are distributed by the Dance Institute office.

Dance Institute's Work Summary is a presentation of class exercises and/or repertoire that have been prepared as part of the curriculum of each level and created expressly to represent the level's vocabulary and training goals.

Beg I Fee for 2016-17 Academic Year: $872.00 
(classes scheduled between August - May)
Beg I Fee Payment Options:

    -- 3 payments of $290.67 due on or before August 30, November 30 and March 30
    -- 9 monthly payments of $96.89 due August through April on or before the 15th of each month
Snow Maiden Fee for Beg I Students: $25.00
Registration Fee (new students only): $10.00 
    --To be made with the first payment

Fees are non-refundable.  In case of extended illness or injury, please contact the office.
