Summer Graduate Program in Theatre Arts (M.A.)
The Summer Graduate Program in Theatre Arts leads to the M.A. degree after the successful completion of a minimum of 36 hours of graduate course work and the completion of a written thesis. The curriculum provides students with opportunities for advanced study and practical work in the areas of history, literature, and criticism; and theatre performance and production.
Twenty-four credits make up the core required courses offered in the School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration. Twelve additional graduate credits are selected to augment a student's particular needs and interests

Electives
Graduate courses in such disciplines English, music, and communication, as well a non-required courses in the area of theatre may be selected in consultation with the student's academic advisory. With approval, up to twelve credits of graduate work may be transferred from other institutions.
Thesis
The creation of a thesis is the culminating project of every student earning an M.A. in Theatre Arts at The University of Akron. Thesis topics, approved by a thesis adviser, may be historical, theoretical, or creative.
