Dr. Lisa Lenhart and Jeremy Brueck from the College of Education's Center for Literacy are partner participants in a Straight A Grant that was recently awarded to John Carroll University.
The project, called DigiLit, will develop, implement and test an innovative model of English language arts teaching in preschool special education and elementary classrooms. The project will combine digital tools and software to accelerate literacy learning and increase students' exposure to vocabulary. The project also is designed to include the family and further strengthen partnerships with local universities and the local library system. It is expected to impact over 2,000 students.
Other partners in the grant proposal were Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library, and Gearity Professional Development School PTA.
