The schedule of 2014 Rethinking Race Week sessions facilitated by faculty in the College of Education is announced. These innovative and inclusive sessions are free and open to all UA students/staff/faculty and the general public. We hope you will make plans for attend one or more of these sessions.
A special town hall meeting focused on race, education, and society will take place on Tuesday, February 11th from 6:30-8pm in Leigh Hall with Akron Public School Superintendent David James, Dr. Robert Murphy, Mrs. Sonja Clark, and Mr. Corwyn Collier.

Lead Commentators: Dr. Francis Broadway and Dr. Denise Stuart
Students will perform readings from challenged (censored) and banned books and segments of writings that featuring the voices of racially diverse authors. Discussion will follow.

Panelists will deconstruction one of the most significant issues facing U.S. schools: the achievement gap. Disparities between Black and White, Latina/o and White, and recent immigrant and White students on standardized tests scores will be analyzed and discussed.
