Course Changes for Summer and Fall 2014

Middle Level Education, Literacy Education, AYA Social Studies, and M.A. in Education have course changes that take effect immediately and can affect both summer and fall registration.  Check below to see whether these changes will affect you.

Middle Level

  • 5250:350 Teaching Language Arts and Media will be offered in Fall only
  • 5250:351 Modes of Writing will be offered in Spring only
  • 5250:338 Teaching Social Studies to Middle Childhood will be offered Spring only

Literacy

  • 5500:455 Literacy for Multiage (UG)will no longer be offered – Candidates will take 5500:440 Developmental Reading in the Content Areas (offered summer, Fall, Spring)
  • 5300:325 Content Reading Secondary will no longer be offered – Candidates will take 5500:440 Developmental Reading in the Content Areas (offered summer, Fall, Spring)
  • 5500:555 Literacy for Multiage (Grad) will no longer be offered – Candidates will take 5500:522 Content Area Literacy (offered Fall, Spring)
  • 5500:629 Reading Programs in Secondary will no longer be offered – Candidates will take 5500:522 Content Area Literacy (offered Fall, Spring)

All Master of Arts

  • Capstone Reminder: 5500:760 Action Research is only offered in Fall, followed by 5500:690 Master’s Research, which is only offered in Spring.

AYA Social Studies

  • 5300 325: Content Reading in Secondary Schools will no longer be offered (instead, undergraduate students must take 5500 440 Developmental Reading in the Content Area)
  • 5300 370:  Educational Implementations will not be offered in the Fall. Any undergraduate student that needs this course in order to be admitted into 5300 420/421 in the Spring must contact their advisor).
  • 5300 475:  Instructional Technology Applications will no longer be offered (instead, AYA Undergraduate Student Teachers that need to be at full time status must enroll in and complete 5500 480-801 ST: Curricular & Instr.)
