Admission to the University

Admission to the College of Education

Students currently enrolled at The University of Akron who wish to enter the College of Education should go to the Dean's Office of their present college and complete an Intercollege Transfer Form (ICT).

In addition to the ICT, students must complete a College of Education Application.

Admission to the Teaching and Training Technical Professionals

Admission to the College of Education’s Teaching and Training Technical Professionals program requires the successful completion of pre-admission coursework as well as the application process.  The pre-admission coursework can be found below.

Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or better overall in their pre-admission coursework and in their teaching field.

  • 3300:111 English Composition I (4)
  • 3300:112 English Composition II (3)
  • 7600:105 Intro. to Public Speaking (3) or
  • 7600:106 Intro. to Effective Oral Communications (3)
  • Social Science
    3750:100 Intro. to Psychology (3)
  • Mathematics – minimum of 3 credits
  • Natural Science – a minimum of 5 credits
  • Physical Education/Wellness
    5540:xxx Physical Education/Wellness (1)
  • Teaching Field(s) – a minimum of 8 credits

Admission to the Teaching and Training Technical Professionals Program

  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Overall GPA of 2.75 GPA  (or 3.0 for last 60 credit hours).
