Addressing the Needs of the State and the Region

Through 2012, overall student enrollments, a key factor in the demand for teachers, are expected to rise more slowly than in the past (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2004-05 Edition). Growth in Ohio is expected to parallel the national picture as reflected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics report. However, State legislation in Ohio is requiring schools to deal more effectively with school climate and social/emotional needs of students. The Classroom Guidance master’s program addresses this need by providing teachers with the skills to be better prepared to deal with the emotional needs of at risk students.
