Dr. Patricia Parr, a University of Akron faculty member in the Department of Counseling, passed away in September of 2012. A long time professor, Parr was a mentor to students, tirelessly advocating for their success. In honor of her giving spirit, Parr’s family, friends and former colleagues created a scholarship in her memory.
The Dr. Patricia Parr Memorial Fund supports individuals and families using the College of Education’s Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling. According to John Parr, her husband, “The Parr family is so pleased to support this fund in Patricia’s honor.” Current contributors include Patrick, Bevin, Asher, Cosmin, Jill, Jennifer, Chris and Dante Taliferro, and Lilly Hostetter, along with private donors.
The Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling serves nearly 1,000 clients each year. Its full menu of services includes counseling for depression, anxiety, grief resolution, stress reduction, anger management, among many others.
The Dr. Patricia Parr Memorial Fund will be a legacy for her great contributions to The University of Akron.
