On June 20, 2012, educational professionals and community leaders who are committed to transforming urban education gathered at The University of Akron for the 2012 Summer Institute: Transforming Urban Education: Urban Learners Matter. The focus of this year’s institute was policies and practices of the educational services for learners pre-K through higher education in urban settings.
Dr. Tyrone C. Howard, author of “Why Race and Culture Matters: Closing the Achievement Gap in America’s Classrooms,” gave the morning keynote address. It was followed by a full day of breakout sessions and workshops. | About Dr. Tyrone C. Howard
