Lights -- Camera -- Action-- in your classroom! iMovie is an easy to use app for making professional looking movies to share with others or for students to show their own understanding of a concept or issue. iMovie is great, however, it is not the only app for making and editing movies on the iPad. There are numerous apps that do this job admirably! In this session we will identify the difference between video editing iPad apps, obtain hands-on use with iMovie editing apps, and learn how to engage students in creating a video iPad project by participating on a video team and completing a project during the workshop.

Teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) can be overwhelming if teachers do not feel equipped to work with them. All teachers need to be able to teach content effectively, while at the same time supporting language development of ELLs. The purpose of this workshop is to provide teachers with skills to identify and meet the needs of English language leaners in their classrooms. Objectives include identifying students’ different levels of English language proficiency and literacy and understanding how to meet the diverse academic needs of different types of ELLs. By modifying instruction, teachers can make content material comprehensible to ELLs and at the same time they enhance instruction and academic language acquisition for all students.
