How to Apply for Licensure

Girl in pink shirt with thumb up The College of Education offers programs for individuals to become licensed educators in Ohio's elementary or secondary schools, or to add new areas of licensure to existing licenses by successfully completing state approved programs and passing Ohio’s required tests.  Upon the completion of all requirements, individuals must apply for the license and be recommended by the dean, head of the teacher preparation program, or designated official to the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Educator Licensure.

Initial Teacher Licensure:  4-Year Resident Educator License

Application packets for initial teacher licensure will be distributed to student teachers during the student teaching colloquiums and the process of licensure will be explained. Those applying for additional licensure can pick up a licensure packet in Zook 207 or email a request that one be mailed.

Pupil Personnel Licensure

  • School Speech-Language Pathologists License

About the Initial 5-year Professional License

  • School Counseling

About the Initial 2-Year Provisional License and the 5-Year Professional License

Principal Licensure

Application packets for initial teacher licensure will be distributed to applicants during their internship and the process of licensure will be explained.  Licensure packets may also be picked up in Zook 207 or you may email a request that one be mailed to you.
