Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of “Frequently Asked Questions” (or FAQs) that are asked of all of us here in the Office of Outreach & Professional Learning. Of course, we are always here to answer your questions and help you in any way that we can, but take a few minutes to check the FAQs here and the more comprehensive list of FAQs on this website before putting a call in to the office!
Students need to call the Computer Help Desk at (330) 972-6888 to get their UAnet ID and password. Then, students can login to ZipLine to view their schedule, bills, and required texts. In addition, refer to the “ZipLine Help” documents included in this orientation for detailed information and a step-by-step guide for all things ZipLine.

Advisers will come out and do their advising as a group. This will be scheduled for you and will take place either before or after class. For online students, advising is done electronically and you will receive information from your adviser at some point during your first semester.
“PCD” stands for “Program Course Description.” These documents will be filled out in your first semester when the advisers come to see you at your site (see above).
Outreach staff registers all cohort students and sends an email to your UA address once each student has been registered. The exception to this will be the IT students, who will be responsible for registering themselves starting Spring 2012. As always, the Technical Education students will also be responsible for registering themselves.
Email Kelly Fay with your name, ID, cohort, and location. In this email, specify the courses and term for which you should be registered.

October 9, 2011, will be the last day to drop a class during the Fall semester. For instructions on how to drop a class, refer to the “ZipLine Help” documents included in this orientation.
To receive information from financial aid, go to the University of Akron’s Financial Aid website. You can also call the Financial Aid office at (800) 621-3847 or at (330) 972-7032.
It may take up to 48 hours for tuition remission to be processed and posted to a student account.
Tk20 is an electronic portfolio system that every College of Education student is required to use. Further information is available on the Tk20 website.
Go to Springboard and login with your UA Net ID and password. If a course has not been activated by the first day of the class, the student should contact the instructor. If it is a technical/sign in problem, contact the Help Desk at (330) 972-6888. Also, use the “Springboard Information” document for additional information on how to navigate Springboard.
