Allen Elementary in Canton, Ohio, is a professional development school working with The College of Education and the offices of Student Teaching and Field Experience and Outreach and Professional Learning. After six months of hard work, the sixth grade class from Allen Elementary participates in a visit to The University of Akron for a fun-filled tour of the campus. The sixth graders earn this trip by completing a program aimed at setting goals and being an active participant in their school and community. This program, implemented by Barbara Jenkins (Director of Outreach) and Pamela Spinner (Director of Student Teaching and Field Experience), helps to prepare students for a lifetime of learning by providing them with the tools they’ll need to be successful in school.
