Transforming Urban Education: Urban Learners Matter - June 20 @ Quaker Square Inn on the University of Akron Campus
The Center for Urban and Higher Education announces its second annual Summer Institute on urban education. This year’s institute, “Transforming Urban Education: Urban Learners Matter,” examines policies and practices of the educational services for learners pre-K through higher education in urban settings. The keynote speaker will be urban education expert Dr. Tyrone Howard, director of Center X at the University of California, Los Angeles. Join us for a summer workshop at The University of Akron to learn about integrating engineering in your science and math classes. Taught by faculty in engineering, geography and education, the workshop activities engage science and math teachers in engineering design challenges that can be incorporated into the curriculum to meet new Ohio and national standards.
