Academics
Whether you are seeking and undergraduate or graduate degree, the college offers both the traditional disciplines along with specialized opportunities. Seven undergraduate programs are available, as are six master's degrees and three doctoral degree programs.
Cooperative education
The college is home to one of the oldest co-op programs in the nation. For decades, our engineering students integrate rigorous academic instruction with practical, on-the-job work experience. This arrangement enables the student to graduate with a degree and often 12 months of work experience in the field.

The college’s faculty is an assembled group of nationally and internationally known professors, researchers and staff members. They work collaboratively to develop our students into some of the nation's most talented engineers and to conduct the research that will drive our economy tomorrow.

Research opportunities
Research activity in the College of Engineering has more than tripled over the last few years, with many of the projects engaging faculty and students in multidisciplinary teams that cross departmental, college and university lines. Our research is focused into several clusters, including advanced materials, biotechnology, clean and renewable energy, computers and instrumentation, and corrosion, to name a few.

Student Design Teams
UA's highly regarded student design teams allow senior-level students to apply classroom theory to a major design project. Past projects have ranged from aircraft to supermileage cars to bridge design, and very often the teams compete against teams from other colleges. Our design teams consistently rank highly in national and international competitions.
