Biography

Dr. Bao received his PhD degree in Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in August 2012. From September 2012 to August 2013, he was a postdoctoral research associate in School of Medicine at Stony Brook University (SUNY Stony Brook) and in Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University. He joined University of Akron as an assistant professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2013. Dr. Bao's research experience covers various fields: medical signal/image processing, healthcare systems, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and wireless networking. Most of his projects are highly interdisciplinary, incorporating biological and medical fields. His research has been reported by MIT Technology Review website and Epilepsy Foundation of America. Since 2013, he has been serving as an editorial board member of IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine
