I graduated in 2013, majoring in Civil Engineering. Currently, I am working for The Ruhlin Company, a local general contractor based out of Sharon Center, Ohio.
My time at Akron was both challenging and very rewarding. From freshman to senior year, the IDEAs Program not only helped me enhance my academic development, but also my professional and personal development.
I have been awarded with several scholarships, including Minority Engineering Scholarship, Choose Ohio First STEM Scholarship, Ruhlin Scholarship and Dr. Luis Hill Scholarship at the 27th Mayor’s Banquet.
I tried to remain very active in classroom and outside. I co-founded the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) UA Chapter. Additionally, I participated in the Engineering Student Council, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Habitat for Humanity, The American Society of Civil Engineers and Hispanics and Latinos Organized (HALO).
I graduated from Garfield High School in Akron. I made a commitment to helping the young students in Akron and have taken part in several community service outreach programs, including tutoring/mentoring local high school students, working with middle school students at a community center to help teach them about engineering, developing/organizing STEM workshops, going to Akron Public Schools and speaking to students about possible engineering careers and having students shadow me through a normal college day to get a grasp of engineering and college life. All of these efforts have made me a better student a more aware individual and a better person.
