The WIE program seeks to recruit more women into engineering disciplines by providing the tools and resources students need to successfully complete their degrees. WIE students participate in summer camps and networking events throughout the year.

Greetings from the Director

Hi, my name is Heidi Cressman and I am the Director of the Women in Engineering Program. I am a graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am thrilled to work with such bright and enthusiastic women each and every day, and my goal in the Women in Engineering Program is to help each woman that chooses engineering to have a successful experience at the University of Akron. In addition, I am here to support our women so that when they graduate they are able to enter the workforce confident, productive and capable of tackling the toughest problems in industry, government and academia.
