2013 Kids' Career Day

Date:  Saturday, March 2^nd, 2013 (8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

Want to have a unique and exciting chance to touch science!!! Kids' Career Day is a ½ day program that is designed to involve children in interactive activities related to occupations in engineering, science, technology, and math. Each activity at Kids' Career Day is led by and showcases professional women who are currently employed as scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. The program is held at the University of Akron Campus and registration is limited and often closes prior to the registration deadline. Cost is $8.00 per girl and includes continental breakfast and snack. Cost is $8.00 per girl and includes continental breakfast and snack. Registration forms can be found by clicking on the link below or by filling out a Kids’ Career Day registration forms from Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Council Locations and libraries in Stark and Summit Counties. Early registrations are not accepted and registration will not be accepted on the day of the event. Payment is non-refundable.

2013 Multiplying Your Options (MYO) Summer Camp

Camp dates:  Monday, June 17^th-Friday, June 21^st, 2013
Camp times: 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Registration: March 1^st, 2013-March 31^st, 2013 (no exceptions)

Multiplying Your Options (MYO) camp at the University of Akron is a one week summer day camp for girls entering the seventh and eighth grades that introduces the girls to biomedical, civil, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering.  Each day is comprised of hands-on engineering activities in the morning led by our talented faculty and is followed by dynamic tours of local engineering firms in the afternoon. The students also spend the week working as a team, designing an edible car and competing against other student teams at the end of the week.  Please click on the link to download application forms.  Print the forms, fill them out, and send them to the address below.

2013 Summer Experience in Engineering (See UA) Summer Camp

Day camp dates:  Monday, June 10^th-Friday, June 14^th, 2013
Day camp times: 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. except on June 14^th.
Overnight camp dates: Sunday, June 9^th-Friday, June 14^th, 2013
June 14^th pick up for all campers is between 2:30-4:00 p.m.

SEE UA! camp at the University of Akron is an engaging one week residential summer camp for girls entering the ninth through twelfth grades that immerses the girls into biomedical, civil, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering.  Each day is comprised of fun-filled hands-on engineering activities in the morning that are led by our talented faculty, followed by dynamic tours of local engineering firms and then campus-wide activities in the evening. The campers also spend the week working as a team on an engineering design project or research project and then compete against other camp teams at the end of the week.  Campers live in residence housing located on campus where the resident assistants are upper-class engineering students.  While there, they can experience the life of a college student while exploring various engineering disciplines available at The University of Akron.   Even the resident assistants are upper-class engineering students. "Inquire, Innovate, Invent" Day

Event Date: November 9^th, 2013 (8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.)
Registration limited to 250 girls
Registration: September 1^st, 2013 - October 31^st, 2013 (no exceptions)

Spark your creative side by taking part in this event for girls in 7^th through 12^th grade and Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts. Designed to teach girls how the innovations of women have impacted many lives and how they themselves can also become innovators and inventors. Join us from 8:00 until 2:00 p.m. and take the opportunity to talk to female engineers and scientists, meet inventors, learn about patent law, explore careers in research and development, explore your creative side while working hand in hand with science and get the opportunity to participate in some fun, creative, design and build activities.  Participants will also do a service project so that younger girls can learn about science and engineering.   All participants will receive a bag and a fun patch. A light breakfast and lunch are included in the day’s events.   The program is held at The University of Akron main campus and registration is limited and often closes prior to the registration deadline.
