The A.D. and Frances Wilson Memorial Grant
This award is in memory of A.D. and Frances Wilson, the uncle and aunt of an English Department faculty member. Mrs. Wilson was a long-time educator in the elementary grades who emphasized the importance of reading to her students, and Mr. Wilson was a forester who did a lot of education work with children, young people, and the community at large about nature and its preservation.

Who can enter:
- Any Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts (NEOMFA) student whose gateway school is The University of Akron and who has twelve graduate credits or more in English.
Submission Guidelines:
- Application is by letter to a committee appointed by the Chair of The Department of English.
- Applicants should explain in their letter why they are pursuing the MFA, what they are learning, and what their career plans are.
- In support of their applications, they may attach to the letter their transcripts and a writing sample of five to ten pages. A student may receive the award more than once.
