Summer student parking permits
Summer parking permits can no longer be requested online, but they can be purchased from the Parking Office. Please note that other permit options are available for students attending classes for only a portion of the summer. Graduate Assistants should use the employee application instead of Zipline.
Use your Zipcard to park at Quaker Square
Zipcard readers are now operational at all entrances and exits to the Quaker Square parking lot. Starting Monday, March 24th, all gates to this lot will be lowered and anyone entering will be required to either use a Zipcard or take a guest ticket from the dispenser. All employees and students will have access to this lot, but a valid parking permit must still be displayed, as in any other lot on campus. We ask that University personnel park north of the Mill St. bridge so that Quaker Square guests will be able to use the area nearest the hotel.
Parking Services to accept food in lieu of fines
Parking Services will run a Food for Fines program during March to benefit the Akron-Canton Food Bank and the Harvest for Hunger drive. Faculty, staff and students with fines may bring in nonperishable food items and receive $5 of credit toward their fines for every food item received ($25 max credit - 5 items). Food donations may be used in conjunction with permit holder courtesy dismissal for the semester, but can only be used for minor violations (violation numbers 1-8).
Items must be single serving food products, and cannot be individually wrapped snack items. Items must be brought into the office for credit - mailed items will not be accepted. Proper citation, vehicle information and University ID must accompany all food items.

Improvements on the drawing board
The University is taking action to improve parking, but the resolutions will take time to implement. A task force has studied parking on campus and issued a series of recommendations. Among other points, the task force recommends that a 1,600-vehicle deck should be built, a shuttle service should be developed and a campaign should begin to encourage motorists to make better use of outlying lots. What has UA done in recent years to improve parking?
