The University of Akron’s Zip Card/ Debit Card Program

The Zip Card/Debit Card Program allows our faculty,students, and staff the convenience of a debit card service that is accessible through an automated debit card privilege access control system, to purchase goods and services at on and off campus locations.

As of the end of last year, over 27,000 students,
faculty, and staff cardholders were using the Zip Card.

Annual deposits have reached $2 million and we expect that amount to continue to increase as the program grows.

Funds are deposited into the Zip Card’s All Campus Account at the Zip Card Office, various Value Transfer Station (VTS) locations on campus, or online at www.onlinecardoffice.com/uakron.

Verifone Tranz credit card reader equipment is used, which is connected to the system at The University of Akron.

The Zip Card program offers you the merchant the following options:

Basic Access level provides merchant
access to the Zip Card debit network and
All Campus Card account. Merchant’s
name, address and telephone number will
be listed on the Zip Card Merchant web page.

Marketing Partner level provides
merchant Basic Access, plus inclusion in
additional marketing venues as specified
by the Zip Card Office.

These venues include but are not limited to:

• Link to Merchant’s web page from Zip Card Merchant web page.

• “Featured Merchant” on rotating basis
with other marketing partners.

• Access to University of Akron’s marketing goods and services at the Merchant’s place of business.

• Inclusion in calendars, cardholder
directories, newspaper advertising, direct mail as appropriate and in compliance with other University agreements.

• Merchant may provide coupons or
special offers to Zip Card holders on
a periodic basis, which would be included in the Zip Card office marketing efforts.
