Entrance Interview Stafford Loan Counseling

Entrance Loan counseling is required by federal law for first time borrowers of Stafford Loans that is designed to inform students of their rights and responsibilities as the borrower of Stafford Loan monies. Students borrowing for the first time at the University of Akron beginning Summer 2003 or later will use this link to complete the entrance interview requirement.

09-10 Stafford Loan Request Form

This form allows ALL (Undergraduate, Graduate & Law) students who have already received their award notification to request Stafford loans for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Remember you may use the Online Student Services Center in ZipLine to accept your summer loans online. This process is much quicker than the loan request form, which can take 10-14 additional business days for processing.

To Sign Your MPN online

  • After receiving your Award Notification and your loan estimates be sure to complete the Loan Request form on the back of the award proposal and return it promptly to The Office of Student Financial Aid & Student Employment.
  • Be sure you have your Personal Identification Number *PIN
  • If you did not complete your FAFSA form online; if you do not have a PIN or if you have misplaced your PIN, visit the US Department of Education's PIN on the web site (www.pin.ed.gov)
  • Once you have your PIN information, Click here to visit the Great Lakes Fastloans (TM) Online Student Loan Application Page.
  • Follow the directions carefully, and you should have no problems completing your MPN Online
  • Note: If you do not process loans through Great Lakes, you CANNOT electronically sign your MPN. Contact your lender for details on receiving a Master Promissory Note.
  • Note: If you wish to cancel or reduce your loan(s) follow the instructions on the Award Proposal, BEFORE signing the MPN online!
