Graduate School Application

Applying to Graduate School at The University of Akron is a seamless process. Through the online application system you can submit your application and application fee electronically.  You should send any required supplemental materials (letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, resume, etc.) to the academic department to which you are applying.

You will receive notification via e-mail when your application materials are received, when these materials are forwarded to the academic department for review, and when an admission decision has been rendered.

Master's Degree Application

• Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study

NOTE: Students applying to the Master's of Public Health (CEOMPH) program should click here for all application information.

Doctoral Degree Application

• Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
• Hold a master's degree from an accredited college or university (some doctoral programs allow admission without a master's degree; consult the academic department for specific requirements)

Certificate Program Application

• Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study
• Certificate programs may be pursued independently or while pursuing a graduate degree

Non-Degree Seeking Application

• Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study
• Do not wish to pursue a graduate degree but seeks to take graduate courses for professional or personal improvement

Transient Student Application

• Regularly enrolled graduate student in good academic standing in a degree program at another accredited college or university and seeks to enroll in graduate coursework at The University of Akron

Undergraduate Student to take Graduate Courses

• Regularly enrolled undergraduate student at The University of Akron may be granted permission to take one or more graduate-level courses
