Ronald E. McNair
The McNair Scholars Program is offered on a competitive basis. To qualify, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have sophomore standing with a declared major for academic year participation.
  • Have completed sophomore year with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA to participate in the research compononent and receive up to a $2,800 stipend. Note: You must be selected for the research component separately.
  • Have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.
  • Be economically disadvantaged and first-generation college student or a member of a group traditionally under-represented in graduate education.


McNair Scholars are motivated, disciplined and hard working individuals determined to be successful.
