Welcome New Graduate Students

Mark Tausig, Ph.D., Associate Dean

Dr. Tausig and ZippyPlease accept my congratulations as you begin your career as a graduate student at The University of Akron. You should be proud to have reached this stage in your education. I wish you every success. We believe that The University of Akron offers high quality programs that will reward you both intellectually and in your future careers.

Graduate education differs from undergraduate education because you are now concentrating your studies in a specific academic area and the faculty in your department will consider you to be a colleague. Take advantage of these opportunities. Learn all you can and get to know your department faculty. Those of us who have worked with graduate students over the years know that you are the creative and innovative wave of the future. We look forward to helping you grow and prosper.

The Graduate School office, located in the Polsky Building, room 469, and our website, are here to help you navigate your graduate student career. Please review the resources on the website and, if you like, stop in and meet our staff. We have gathered information that we think will be helpful to you as you get settled in to life as a graduate student and maybe as a graduate assistant.

Best of luck!
