2014 Commencement Ceremonies

The University of Akron will celebrate the achievements of the Fall Class of 2014 at commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, 198 Hill St.

Graduating veterans wear red, white and blue honor cords with their academic regalia as UA recognizes their service to our country.

Fall Commencement 

Friday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m.

  • College of Applied Science and Technology
  • College of Business Administration
  • College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering

Guest speaker: Bill Considine ’69, president and CEO of Akron Children's Hospital.

Student speaker: Benjamin Stasik, B.S. in Emergency Management and Homeland Security, summa cum laude.

Saturday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m.

  • Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Engineering

Guest speaker: State Rep. Vernon Sykes ’01, 34th House District.

Student speaker: Lindsay Trujillo, B.S. in Biochemistry, magna cum laude.

Saturday, Dec. 13, 2 p.m.

  • College of Education
  • College of Health Professions
  • Wayne College

Guest speaker: Michele Campbell ’02, CEO of LRMR Management Company and executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Student speaker: Stephanie Rymer, B.S. in Education — Middle Level Education, summa cum laude.

GradFest celebration

GradFest is a celebration for the graduates, their families and friends at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. It features music, refreshments and photo ops with Zippy, UA's loveable mascot.
