Javier Aliegro
Position: Faculty Advisor

Bio:Javier Coronado-Aliegro is originally from Cartagena, Colombia. He received a B.A. in Translation with the title of Profesional en Idiomas in 1991 from the Universidad de Antioquia. In 1998 he earned the title of Especialista en la Enseñanza de Lenguas Extranjeras at the Universidad de Antioquia. He taught EFL at the Universidad de Antioquia and at the Universidad Pontifica Bolivariana until 1998. In 2000 he received a M.A. in TESOL from West Virginia University. From 2000-2004, he taught Spanish at the University of Pittsburgh while under a Fellowship with the Center for Latin American Studies. He was also School Visit Program coordinator during this period. In the fall of 2006, he completed his. Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education at the University of Pittsburgh. His dissertation topic focused on self-assessment and its effect on self-efficacy among undergraduates studying Spanish as a foreign language.

Bio: I have been at the University of Akron for four years and a member of LGBTU for two. I love making new friends and doing fun activities with the group. I am probably too outgoing but once you get to know me I think I'm fairly normal. Hopefully we can continue to gain more members and keep the organization strong!

Derek Wholihan
Position: Vice President

Bio: I am a Mass Media Communications major here at the University of Akron. When I am not doing things for school I am usually out socializing with my friends and listening to music. I live in Canton and commute to school everyday. This will be my third year being in the LGBTU group and I am very exited to be the publicity coordinator. While in this position I plan to put the word out there more than it has ever been put. Along with my friends; the other officers and members of LGBTU, I am hoping this will be a year never to forget.

Trevor
Position: Treasurer
Bio: Trevor is studying Secondary Education Mathematics and hopes to help children learn someday. Organization, computers, and empathy are his strong suits and as such the treasurer position is a good fit for him. He enjoys the outdoors, working on his truck, and time with friends.

Wyatt Curtis

Bio:This is my second year of being a PSEO student. When I graduate in May I hope to attend the University of Colorado or the University of Akron. I plan on majoring in Political Science concentrating on Public Relations, and Communications. My hobbies include socializing, theater, facebook, friends, politics, and activism. One of my favorite things that I have learned in life is that, Don't have regrets just learn from your mistakes.

Bio: My name is Kaylee H. Carroll and I am a sophomore at The University of Akron. I am studying to get a degree in Social Work. I love my family and friends almost as much as I love mustaches. I would really like to see more people come to meetings and see how much fun they are.. especially people with mustaches.

Bio: I am a pre-med student here at Akron. This is my last year at the university and I will be graduating this year. I enjoy reading lots of good books about a myriad of topics. Of course, sometimes you get caught in a bad book which must be put down and returned . I’m looking forward to an awesome semester coming up with the LGBTU.
