About NABA

The National Association of Black Accountants was founded in 1970, when it began its first professional chapter. The first chapter was located in New York City was created by nine African-Americans, Ronald Benjamin, Frank Ross, Kenneth Drummond, Earl Biggett, Richard McNamee, George Wallace, Bertram Gibson, Michael Winston, and Donald Bristow. NABA was formed to address the concerns facing minorities entering the accounting profession and to promote academic and professional excellence.

Purpose:

  • To promote the professional development of members in accounting.
  • To encourage and help members of minority groups to enter the Accounting profession.
  • To provide opportunities for members of minority groups to increase their knowledge of accounting and their individual capabilities.
  • To provide assistance in developing accounting education for members of minority groups.
  • To stimulate fellowship and acquaintanceship among members of minority groups.
  • To encourage cordial relations among members and cooperative and student organizations.
