Welcome From The University Of Akron's Formula SAE Team The University of Akron took 10th place at the Formula East Competition.
We will be competing in California at the Auto Club Speedway on June 17-20, 2009 The University of Akron builds a car every year from scratch. Almost all of the components are designed and manufactured by students. The car competes against several schools from around the world. The most prestigious of these competitions is in Michigan against 140 schools. Akron has also competed in California and England.
The competitions consist of four dynamic events: Acceleration, Skid-pad, Autocross, and Endurance. Fuel Economy is incorporated into the Endurance event. There are also static events: Marketing, Cost, and Design. These events challenge students in all areas of design and business. FSAE provides real world training that cannot be found in any classroom. There is no prior experience needed, all skills are taught in the machine shop. All majors are welcome. |
