Honors College - The Incoming Class of 2011

Class Profile

The Honors College incoming Class includes 440 new Honors students who join the Honors College at The University of Akron in the fall semester.  The incoming class is approximately 49% women and 51% men. 

The incoming class includes

  • 22 valedictorians
  • 62 students with an ACT test score of 30 or higher (that set of scores includes the top 3% of test scores in the country)

In addition, the academic records of the students entering directly from high school show

  • An average high school cumulative gpa of 3.91
  • An average ACT test score of 29.1

The incoming class includes many students from out of state, including students from Arizona, California, Delaware, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas, as well as from

Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts,  New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia,  West Virginia, as well as Brazil, England, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria.

There are 13 new Honors College students who are in the NEOMED two-year accelerated medical program.

Honors students may choose any major they wish from the large variety of possibilites at UA. The chart below shows the majors that new Honors students have chosen at the beginning of the Fall semester.
