The Honors College offers guidance and assistance to students interested in applying for these external awards. Students may also apply for scholarships on campus through the Office of Student Financial Aid or from your academic department. Students from the Honors College have received Goldwater Scholarships and honorable mention awards for Goldwater Scholarships, James Madison Fellowships, NSF Graduate Fellowships, and others.

Senior Shawn Ryan is a recipient of the 2008 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. This merit-based award is given to competitive students pursuing degrees in the sciences, math, and engineering. Ryan has been recognized by the Goldwater Foundation for his excellent academic record and extensive research in the field of applied mathematics. The scholarship compensates costs for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. After attending the University of Akron, Ryan will pursue a PhD in applied math and then a faculty position at a research institution.
