Duties: The University of Akron Wayne College is seeking to expand its pool of qualified applicants for part-time positions as Lecturers. Responsibilities: course instruction (planning, implementation, evaluation, and assessment), office hours, attendance at part-time faculty orientation, instructional evaluation and development, and compliance with other University policies and practices.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS - Part-time instructors needed to teach Internet Tools and Introduction to Unix/Linux. Teaching experience and Master’s degree in computers or related field required. Professional certifications preferred. Evening availability needed.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNOLOGY - Three years’ experience in Criminal Justice required and Master’s degree in Education (or related area) preferred. Teaching experience preferred but not required.

NUTRITION FUNDAMENTALS - Master’s degree required, in Nutrition, Dietetics or related area. Credential of Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and Licensure (L.D.) in the State of Ohio. University teaching experience preferred.

BASIC WRITING - Master’s degree in English, English Education, or related field required. Experience teaching English at the college or secondary level preferred.

DEVELOPMENTAL MATH - Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field required to teach courses in Pre-Algebra and Beginning Algebra. Teaching experience required.

STUDENT SUCCESS SEMINAR - Master’s degree required. Preferred degree in Education with background in reading/study strategies, and a variety of instructional and motivational techniques.

ACCOUNTANCY - Master’s degree or higher in the appropriate area required. Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA) required to teach baccalaureate courses. Evidence of significant work and teaching experience in the desired area preferred.

FINANCE - Master’s degree or higher in the appropriate area required. Professional certification (CFA, CFP) and evidence of significant work and teaching experience in the desired area preferred.

FACPR/AED – Must have instructor certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Also required, Master’s degree in Health Education, Physical Education or related field.

HEALTH EDUCATION/PHYSICAL EDUCATION - Master’s degree in Health/Physical Education, or related field required. Courses include health/physical education skill courses and wellness courses. Day and evening availability desirable.

BIOLOGY - Master's Degree in Biology or related field is required. College teaching experience preferred in the following areas: Human Anatomy & Physiology, lecture and lab for non-majors. Classes may be scheduled days, evenings, weekends and off-campus sites.

CHEMISTRY – Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field required to teach college introductory chemistry laboratory courses including Qualitative Analysis. Laboratory teaching experience required.

COMMUNICATION - Master’s Degree in Communication required to teach introductory speech classes, including public speaking, and effective oral communication. Experience teaching speech at the college level preferred.

MEDICAL CODING & INSURANCE BILLING - Bachelor's degree in related field, master's degree preferred. Expert knowledge and experience in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and/or insurance billing required. Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC and teaching experienced are preferred.

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY - Bachelor's degree in medical field required, master's degree preferred. Experience working in the healthcare field and teaching experience are required. Expert knowledge in medical word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms is required.

DISEASE PROCESSES - Bachelor's degree in medical field required, master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree in nursing or other medical related field along with an appropriate master’s degree are required. Experience in pathology and an understanding of disease signs, symptoms, laboratory tests, as well as appropriate care and treatment for disease conditions. College teaching experience preferred. Evening availability required.

BASIC PHARMACOLOGY - Bachelor's degree in medical field required, master's degree preferred. Recent or current experience working as a practicing pharmacist, medical doctor, or registered nurse is required. College level teaching experience is preferred.

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION - Master's degree in education such as curriculum and instruction or literacy instruction with significant number of graduate hours to teach Educational Technology, Literacy and Phonics coursework. Experience teaching is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS - Master's degree in Education, Educational Psychology or related field required field with significant number of graduate hours to teach to introductory education and educational psychology coursework. Experience teaching is preferred.

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION - Master's degree in Elementary Education Early Childhood or Family and Consumer Sciences with significant number of graduate hours to teach Theory and Guidance of Play, Child Development coursework. Experience teaching is preferred.

SPECIAL EDUCATION – Master’s Degree in Special Education with significant number of graduate hours to teach special education coursework such as Introduction to Exceptionalities, Management Strategies in Special Education. Experience teaching is preferred.

ENGINEERING - Master’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering required to teach a sophomore course in Mechanics of Materials. A master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required to teach a sophomore course in Dynamics. A master’s degree in any field of engineering, along with proficiency with the Creo software (ProEngineer), required to teach a freshman computer engineering course. Previous teaching experience and work experience in the field preferred.

ENGLISH - Master's degree in English, English education, or related field required to teach college-level composition, general literature, technical writing, or creative writing courses. Experience teaching English at college or secondary level preferred.

GEOSCIENCE - Master's degree in geology required to teach day, evening, and/or weekend sections of Environmental Geology, Exercises in Environmental Geology for non-majors, Introductory Geology, and Earth Science. College-level teaching experience preferred.

GEOGRAPHY - Master's degree in geography or related field required to teach introductory sections of geography. Teaching experience preferred.

HISTORY – Master’s degree in history required to teach Humanities in the Western Tradition. College teaching experience preferred.

ANTHROPOLOGY - Master's degree in anthropology required to teach Cultural Anthropology, Human Diversity, or Human Evolution. College-level teaching experience is preferred.

WORLD CIVILIZATIONS - Master’s degree in relevant field required to teach Africa, China, Southeast Asia, Near East, Latin America, and India. College teaching experience preferred.

SOCIOLOGY - Master's degree in Sociology required to teach introductory courses in Sociology, the Black Experience, and Diversity in American Society. College teaching experience preferred.

PSYCHOLOGY – Master’s degree in Psychology required to teach introductory courses in Psychology. College teaching experience preferred.
