Four University of Akron students were big winners at Tuesday night's football game, each walking away with free tuition for spring semester.

All UA students who entered InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on Tuesday evening before kickoff using their Zip Card student ID were automatically entered into a drawing to win the tuition prize, worth more than $4,000.

The students braved wet, rainy weather; they had to be present to win the tuition prize, which is the amount of the undergraduate in-state Ohio resident tuition rate for 12 hours to 16 credit hours at the Akron campus. Three students won the prize this way.

A fourth student was chosen through a social media challenge by being the one to most often use the hashtag #ZipsBlackout on social media during a defined period of time in the past week.

Shanel O'Connor
