Friday's performance canceled

Friday's performance has been canceled because of the weather; however, Saturday's show is still on.

The intense drama "Shot! Requiem for a Bullet" has its Ohio premiere Feb. 25 and 26 in the intimate Stage Door at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, 198 Hill St. at The University of Akron. Both performances begin at 8 p.m.

Written by Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon in collaboration with Eugene Martin and Douglas C. Wager, "Shot!" was created from interviews with residents of North Philadelphia’s projects. Rapid-fire poetry, monologues and documentary footage create compelling insights into lives lived in relentless and random danger. The production is recommended for mature audiences.

"Shot!" was recently staged at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. UA Theatre Professor Susan Speers is directing "Shot!" in Akron as a production of the School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration. A discussion lead by Williams-Witherspoon will take place after each performance.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students. A group discount is available in advance for 10 or more patrons. For reservations, please contact the Thomas Hall Ticket Office at 330-972-7570.
