Honors student Kathleen Duff joins UA Board

Honors College student Kathleen A. Duff was recently sworn in as a member of The University of Akron’s Board of Trustees. She was appointed to the Board by former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland in fall 2010, while serving as an intern for the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain.

As a student trustee, Duff serves on the Educational Policy/Student Affairs and External Affairs committees. Her term will expire in July 2012.

Duff, a junior, is pursuing majors in international business, marketing management and Spanish. She participates in a variety of student organizations including the sorority Alpha Delta Pi, University Ambassadors and Emerging Leaders. She is currently the vice president of finance for the AK-Rowdies. She also volunteers in the community as an English Language Institute tutor and Relay for Life team captain.

Duff spent the past fall interning in the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Madrid. Among her duties there were serving as the official Embassy photographer and working on youth outreach programs.
