Business students meet with billionaire Warren Buffett

NEWSPAPERS CHRONICLE STUDENTS' VISIT

See stories in the Akron Beacon Journal and the Omaha World-Herald.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 27 students in the University of Akron's College of Business Administration occurred Nov. 6 — they met with billionaire businessman Warren Buffett at his investment company, Berkshire Hathaway Global Headquarters in Omaha, Neb.

Every year, the world's second-wealthiest person invites university business students from all over the world to visit his headquarters for one day and learn about business, ethics and life in general. Dr. Todd Finkle, associate professor of management and academic director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies in the College of Business Administration, spent the last two years researching and writing a case study about Buffett and his company.

"It was accepted for publication in a journal and I sent him a copy of it to read," Finkle said. "Within 10 days he invited us to visit Omaha. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students and for myself as well. We'll be learning from one of the best business minds of all time."

Finkle and 27 CBA graduate and undergraduate students left for the whirlwind trip on Thursday, Nov. 5, met with Buffett on Friday, and returned to campus Saturday. They also visited the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Borsheim's, both Berkshire subsidiaries.
