After earning a B.S. in Marketing and Advertising at The University of Akron, Matt Schafer has returned to his roots as a senior writer.
Prior to joining UA in the fall of 2011, he worked in the advertising and communications industry in the Cleveland/Akron area for more than 15 years – and most recently worked as a communications specialist for Nationwide Insurance.
Over the years, Matt has gained valuable experience writing for clients in a broad range of industries, including automotive, retail, banking, insurance, health care, and now, higher education.
It's a little known fact that Matt collects oddball autographs. His modest collection includes world-famous architect IM Pei (on a Cleveland Indians ticket stub…long story), Sister Mary Assumpta (the nun from "Major League") and David Newell (Mr. McFeely from "Mister Rogers Neighborhood").
Matt also enjoys following UA athletic teams and fully embraces the (sometimes) heated rivalry between the Zips and the "other school" in the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge.
Matt lives in Akron with his wife Debbie and their three sons.
