Quality Matters in Online Course Design

Quality Matters in Online Course Design is a workshop designed and developed at UA and hosted by the Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL). It offers instruction in using the QM rubric to enhance the design of online courses and is good first step in the official QM certification process. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate from ITL.

Who Should Attend?

Faculty members and trainers with minimal experience in online instruction or minimal knowledge of Quality Matters^TM (QM) who want to learn more about how to design an online course that meets QM standards.

What Will You Learn?

You will learn about each of the eight standards in the QM Rubric and how to incorporate these standards into your course design.

This course also provides an opportunity to:

• gain experience as a student in an online course hosted in Springboard.
• learn practical techniques for teaching online.
• discuss best practices and strategies for teaching online with colleagues at The University of Akron.

How Is This Course Taught?

• Cohorts (small groups) are enrolled in an online course in Springboard facilitated by an experienced online instructor.
• Participants review content in Springboard and complete a series of activities that help to explain how to design an online course that meets specific Quality Matters standards.
