Fall 2012 STEM Speaker Series

From September 10 - October 4, 2012

The STEM Speakers Series is an opportunity for all faculty to integrate current and important global issues into their courses. This year we provide topics that faculty, students, and community members will examine. Topics include science, health impacts, energy, and technology.

This Speakers Series is meant to assist faculty with the following learning objectives:

  • Learn from experts in the field
  • Enhance critical thinking
  • Identify and analyze contemporary issues
  • Increase science literacy
  • Connect students to real-world applications
  • Heighten interest in STEM

The Fall 2012 Topics are :

  • The Science of Football
  • Biology, Genes, and the Hunt for Mutants
  • Suicide:  What Every College Student Should Know
  • Global Climate Change: What Is It? How Will It Affect Us? Can We Reduce the Impact By Our Actions?

  • From Student to Researcher:  My Journey as an Integrated BioScientist
