Imaging
PC Services uses Symantec Ghost for imaging Windows computers. All new computers receive a standard windows disk image with a Windows operating system and UA core applications. The disk images are available upon request to departmental technical staff. Refer to the table to determine which disk image to use for a particular model of computer.
The disk image utility built into the operating system is used for imaging Macintosh computers. The standard Macintosh disk image is used on all new Macintosh computers and for upgrades to OS 10.4

Configuration settings in effect on standard Windows XP disk images
- Desktop
- Desktop icons for My Documents,My Computer,and Internet Explorer are enabled
- Desktop Cleanup Wizard is disabled
- Quick Launch toolbar is enabled
- Group similar taskbar buttons and Hide inactive icons are disabled.
- Desktop icons for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are created
- Quick Launch toolbar icons for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are created
- Internet Explorer
- Temporary Internet Files folder size is set to 50MB
- Pop-ups are allowed from uanet.edu and uakron.edu
- Peoplesoft 8 Sign-in added to Favorites
- Other
- System Restore is disabled
- Visual Effects are adjusted for best performance
- Set Program Access and Defaults is removed from start menu
- Outlook Express, MSN Explorer, and Windows Messenger are removed.
- Network connections for UANet Dail-up and UANet VPN are created
- Hibernation and Stand byare disbled
- Show hidden files and folders is enbabled.

DTS currently has a University Binary based OS X Disk Image.
