Enterprise Managements Tools used by ITS

ITS uses several enterprise management tools to administer and manage computers joined to the UAnet domain. They are explained below.

SMS – Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 – Used to perform hardware and software inventory and to deploy applications and updates to faculty/staff computers.

WSUS – Microsoft Windows Software Update Service – Used to deploy Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office updates to faculty/staff and lab computers.

MEEC – McAfee Endpoint Encryption – Used for whole disk encryption on faculty and staff computers.

GPO – Group Policy Objects – GPOs are used to manage system settings for faculty/staff and lab computers.

EPO – McAfee E-Policy Orchestrator – Used to manage settings for McAfee VirusScan and McAfee Anti-Spyware for faculty/staff and lab computers.

Ghost / Disk Utility – Disk Imaging – Imaging is used to deploy a standard disk image with an operating system and core applications to faculty/staff computers.

Apple Remote Desktop – Apple Systems Management Software – Used to perform remote management for troubleshooting and support, to perform hardware and software inventory, and to deploy applications to Apple Macintosh computers.
