MOS 2003 Training Classes
Software Training and Technological Services has added new courses for faculty and staff to cover the skills required for certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) in Excel 2003 and Word 2003. The courses will begin in Spring 2006. The Excel 2003 Core and Word 2003 Core courses review all the objectives and skills that are included in the exams. To review a list of these skills, click here.
Prior to taking these courses, a faculty or staff member should be an experienced user of the software. Knowledge of Excel or Word is prerequisite to the MOS classes. To review what you need to know before the classes, click here. If you do not have this knowledge or you need to learn Excel or Word, the Excel Step and Word Step series, also, are available. You may register for the stepped courses at https://www.uakron.edu/seminars.
What is a Microsoft Office Specialist? A Microsoft Office Specialist is a person who has passed an exam in one of the Microsoft Office products. These exams are given only at Microsoft Authorized Testing Centers, such as the one on the Wayne Campus of The University of Akron. It is advisable to study before taking the exams. The courses offered by Software Training will help you to do this.
Why become a Microsoft Office Specialist? This certification verifies that you have the necessary skills in Microsoft programs, such as Excel and Word. As employers look for verification of employee software skills, this is a way to stand out and show your credentials as a specialist in the software that a job requires.
