The Public Interest Law Fellowship Program supports and encourages those students who would like to gain legal experience in public interest, public sector, and non-profit areas. Students with placement interest in Stark County, Cuyahoga County, Summit County, and Tuscarawas County are especially encouraged to apply. Day students are eligible to apply after their first academic year. Evening students are eligible to apply after their third semester. If you think you would like to do this work, but have questions on how to line up a placement, please feel free to call upon Professor Koosed (statewide agencies), Professor Carro (Akron), or Career Planning Director, Jay Levine, Ph.D., (general). It is expected that you will take steps on your own to secure a placement in advance of submitting your application for a fellowship. A letter confirming your placement from the employer organization as well as a program application are also required.

The Public Interest Fellowship Committee will make an effort to balance the constituencies served: national, regional, or local.
Start Date To Receive Fall Public Interest Fellowship Applications: Monday, August 28, 2006

We have set an application deadline of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006.
