Speakers:
Attorney Barb Vimont received her JD from the University of Akron School of Law in 2005. Currently, Barb is Associate Legal Counsel in Akron General Health Systems Legal Services Department. She also held various other positions at Akron General, including Health Information Supervisor in Medical Records, Compliance Manager in Patient Financial Services and Corporate Compliance Officer. Barb currently serves as the Chairperson for the Health Law Section of the Akron Bar Association.
Attorney Jeana M. Singleton is an associate in Brennan, Manna & Diamond’s Health Law department. She primarily represents clients in a variety of areas, including Contracts, General Corporate Matters, Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Reimbursement Issues, Regulatory Compliance, Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Analysis, Joint Venture Structural Analysis, Licensure/Certification, Employment Contract Issues, Litigation (Healthcare & Employment), Credentialing and Peer Review and Compliance Plans. She received her JD from the University of Akron School of Law in 2005.
Wilson R. Huhn is a C. Blake McDowell, Jr., Professor and a Constitutional Law Research Fellow at The University of Akron School of Law. He currently teaches courses in constitutional law, advanced constitutional law, jurisprudence, and commercial paper. He received his B.A. at Yale University and J.D., cum laude, at Cornell University, where he was a member of the Cornell Law Review. Prior to joining the Akron Law faculty in 1984, Professor Huhn served as law clerk for the late Judge Leo A. Jackson in the 8th District Court of Appeals and as an associate at Squire, Sanders and Dempsey. Professor Huhn's book THE FIVE TYPES OF LEGAL ARGUMENT (Carolina Academic Press, 2002, 2008) is required reading at a number of law schools nationally.
Dr. Peggy Halter is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Akron where she teaches graduate health policy and advanced practice psychiatric nursing. She received a PhD from Duquesne University, an MSN from Kent State, and a BSN from the University of Akron. She is a member of the Ohio Nurses Association’s Health Policy Council and co-Chair of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association’s Advocacy Institute. Her current research focus is on the delivery of health policy content in graduate nursing programs and political engagement in advanced practice nurses. Peggy is the author of two psychiatric nursing textbooks and recipient of the American Journal of Nursing’s 2009 Book of the Year Award.
Dr. Steven Gaich graduated in 1991 from the University of Akron with a Bachelor's of Science. He received his M.D. from NEOUCOM in 1995 and completed his residency in 1999 at Akron General Medical Center. Dr. Gaich successfully completed his board certification in 2002. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was recently elected as a member of the prestigious Central Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He successfully passed his examination to become a Certified Menopausal Consultant through the North American Menopausal Society in October 2007.
