Biography

Elizabeth A. Shaver is an Associate Professor of Legal Writing at The University of Akron School of Law. In addition to teaching courses in legal writing and litigation drafting, Professor Shaver teaches courses in Education and Special Education Law. Before joining Akron Law in 2009, Professor Shaver worked as a senior attorney with Genesis Professional Liability Managers, a Berkshire-Hathaway Company.  Professor Shaver also spent five years in the general litigation department of Jones Day. In addition, Professor Shaver served for two years as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Alexander Harvey II of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Professor Shaver received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School, where she was a member of the Cornell Law Review.  Professor Shaver is the current President of the Board of Directors for the Ardmore Foundation, an Akron, Ohio nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life of adults and children with developmental delays and other disabilities.
